Leslie Fass is a fine art and documentary photographer living in Westchester County, NY. Born in New York, she grew up in Petersburg, Virginia and Shawnee Mission, Kansas. At the age of sixteen, she developed a love for photography and learned to print in the darkroom. Her images originate from her interest to tell the unique stories of diverse people and cultures she has met in her local community or through her extensive travels across the globe.
In 1996, she trained as an interviewer for the Shoah Foundation, interviewing Holocaust survivors, preserving their testimonies for future generations. Of importance was not exclusively the details of tragic experiences the survivors endured, but the lives they established with dignity after the war. Both these interviews and her photography have given her a deep understanding of the human experience.
Leslie has studied with photographers Thorsten Overgaard and Barbara Mensch. She has also studied at International Center of Photography in NYC, completing the C.E. Track in 2014. Her work is on permanent display at Kendall-on-Hudson, Phelps Medical Associates and other venues in Westchester, NY. She has exhibited her work at the Katonah Museum, Northern Westchester Hospital, the Katonah Library and Westchester Medical Center. As a member of the Northern Westchester Artists Guild, she has also exhibited in Chappaqua, New York.
